I often have people tell me an offshore

overnight passage is one of the things

that scares them most about going

cruising and I have to tell them

oftentimes the offshore overnight

passages are what I remember most

sometimes the best reason to do

something is because you're afraid of it

if the opportunity presents itself you

should go have you ever heard that

phrase don't miss the boat well that's

definitely the feeling that Phillip and

I had when we watched this boat it's

actually the moment we decided to sail

to Cuba which we're doing this December

still when we were looking at this boat

crossing this day what happened for us

was there it was a rally from Pensacola

I'll make a little nice map all the way

down to Cuba

I saw the boats as they were leaving to

go to Cuba and like 20 of them headed

out the path going south you know

everybody going south and we're here

watching it with the boat when Phillip

and I both laid our eyes on it and saw

it going south to Cuba and we weren't

going it's kind of the moment we decided

we've got to go so very strange thing

that it was this boat that inspired me

but I didn't know it at the time I did a

blog post on it it said I should have

been on that boat because I had a patron

who said I know that boat I know that

captain he put me in touch with the

captain Ryan Rayfield amazing guy we've

become really good friends through all

this it is the SV libera a 1969 built

rip junior 60-foot custom-designed catch

guys this is a beautiful boat this boat

is an offshore charter vessel it is

taking folks right now this season all

the way through March across the Gulf of

Mexico to Cuba Mexico Honduras probably

the Bahamas in 20

17 and I'm actually sailing on the boat
