obviously on sailing catalpa we rip our

mainsail and head towards Lizard Island

so we got to Lizard Island yesterday we

had drummers yesterday without ripping

in half but we got here fine and then we

get here and everything was good we

anchored up motor everything engine was

working perfectly we went for a bit of a

swim and look around the island and we

came back to have a shower so to have a

shower on catalpa it it's engine driven

the hot water so we put the motor on to

have a hot shower so we went to put the

motor on and it went nothing so we open

engine bay and it was full of water

our bilge pump switch for whatever

reason was switched off which meant the

bilge pump wasn't going on when there

was water in the bilge and there was a

lot of water in the village and now a

starter motor is not working so we are

at Lizard Island which is really remote

and we have no engine rip sail we're

stranded that's our last two days

let's hope things don't come in threes

like they say they do but uh please

trying to get the starter motor out now

to see if you can get it going fix it do

something we don't have a spare one

feel right now besides being in this

engine and we thought we've done

everything we needed to do to go but

these tiny little mistakes just stuff

everything so that's one thing that

we've got the starter motor issues our

next driver is leaked on actually

physically get to some of the bolts to

get it out and then even if he can't he

doesn't know if we can get it out

without removing the motor which is

massive we're in a bit of a pickle

we've got options of you know being able

to get them here there's a barge that

comes out here we've also got friends

and cans but no matter of a tool that

can reach it's like literally being able

to get to it

so what we're trying to do is have we've

got two bolts off there's a third one

that's like underneath the lace and

putting the spinner in so I go under

with my finger and feel where it is and

then direct him so it goes on to the

nuts onto the bolt I mean he's just

having trouble getting it on so you can

then laver it off it's got one more

option that won't loose on

there's no room just forget that

so not only we had trouble getting this

atomizer unbolted lease also dropped is

only two fourteen inch spinners

underneath the motor into the bilge

there's water in there and we can't see

can't access them so it's many since I'm

one got it you're gonna be on the wind

now honey it's a row gonna roll my guy

with the momentum it's all coming

together now did you just have a bright

idea to positivity so far there's

momentum we gonna for all with the

positive thoughts look good out tastes

after some help from our friend Emmanuel

of el agua Li was able to pull out the

solenoid its my solenoid which is I

think the problem the motors winding but

only if I put a screwdriver from there

to there if I turn the key nothing

happens so there's obviously there's no

there's a lack of contact inside there

somewhere and I don't think that's

engaging it properly so we will just

have to see what we can do I'm hoping

for maybe pull this apart and save and

clean it put it back together hopefully

it works if it doesn't we're gonna have

to wait here until we get a new one yep

I'll have a look I'll clean this up see

see what I can do I have a look inside

and go from there could be burnt out

contacts or I have no idea what I'm

looking for in here but we'll give it a

clean up and see what happens

look at all that is just that corrode it

I don't know I'm gonna have a go I'm

gonna try and clean all this up

but there's no connection in all this

like that it's just so if you look at

these these are our contacts right I've

just so dirty and they've got to come

into contact with this and that is just

so dirty so there's just no power going

through there at all but there will be

soon you can see I've cleaned that

terminal up sanded it why rush that all

and see the difference in the two

connections the contacts there yeah why

brush your thread so get a good contact

here when we reconnect the wires the

next one will be it's just so corroded

get that out and clean that up
