We sail round from Portimao to an anchorage near Faro, have a near miss with our anchor dragging, explore some beautiful places in the Algarve and then leave...

about five days now really beautiful
universe little day trip with them some
guests aboard which went well

oh my god
[Music]
some guests on board today Tim and Sally
we sailed up the coast we went to look
at the caves had a bit of lunch and
we've just arrived back and anchored and
said guys what did you think
oh it's been absolutely fantastic a nice
touch it an amazing day with these guys
nothing has been too much trouble it was
all about us not about them it's been
amazing
hello guys if you're watching out here
you've got to come and do this with Ryan
and Paige just fantastic boat just come
out here relaxed chilled go out in the
water have a great breakfast or great
lunch time out into the onto a beach see
some caves see whatever you like
it's just informal Ryan phone will do
anything with you the best host ever
great Berg just the best day ever got to
do it
so wrong yeah it's been a really good
day we've really enjoyed it yeah please
come out fancier you're welcome really
really lovely place we loved it but we
just want to get moving so we came to
the manta as soon as possible
thanks doc it's far right the wind is
looking like it's coming in it was prom
basically straight on the nose so we've
got a motor for a little bit and then
hopefully get the sails out a bit later
I think we're gonna motor out and then
tuck back in all right

mother Claire
it's about 30 miles so if you can get
some good speed up and could do it in
about five hours
but it depends people attack out a
pinnacle when are you going to cut your
hair iron when you can do a back I tell
you what really
all right deal done it's on how fast we
got left Ryan in distance now we're
about to tack a lot of entrer that was
sailing yes could be getting in in the
dark
hopefully not we've really don't want to
get too far out in the dark because
there's lots of crab pots outside and
they can be a little bit dangerous if
you've got the engine running and they
can get caught around the prop so if
it's dark up soon we won't be able to
see them it's also pretty shallow and
we've had a few horror stories about
boats hitting land so we're just coming
in too far right now with the end of our
trip taking us about eight hours we've
had ok windows didn't just be really
quite strong but it wasn't it was fine
we had quite strong current against us
though so that how does that quite a bit
we've now got no wind so we've got
engine on and the manor but we wanted to
get here before it's dark we have
succeeded is it
neighbor about one mile away entrance
Ankara and then we're done
very massive current coming in here that
does not let nice nice beach so you
typical alright seven now we had a bit
of trouble on Queen here cuz the uncle
worked again we kept dragging we
eventually got it sack had some dinner
then went bad it's a real fresh blue
jam-packed day the next day
throughout early today because we need
to take copies around we couldn't take
care yesterday because it was really
quite late and the company see what we
were doing or no we had to go so she
just went to the toilet in the bathroom
and we're gonna take her this morning
perhaps if you want to gonna walk in
your high five yeah

yeah good girl
such a beautiful place and there's
plastic and rubbish everywhere and that
was purely just walking back on this
purely just walking back from the beach
was now just over there 15 minutes 15
minutes
we didn't stray more than 10 feet yeah
yeah
ah there's bins right there for it as
well
we think we were about here so we've
dragged this not
not very good
we - I'm Ryan service in the winch's my
have to do that sticking so what you've
got to clean all of their I'm wd-40 in
it and taking out all of the old grease
and dirt and I'll read grease it with
that grease and put the oil on the
tappers because if you pick the grease
if you put grease on these they can
stick and if they stick then the winch
will just free spin with any load on
them on the halyards or sheets so won't
hold it no it won't hold it these are
what stop it so this is your mechanism
like this and it has your winch in they
click on to the next one yeah stop it
from going backwards now if you put
grease on them and they stick closed
there's nothing stopping the whole thing
just fling it out yeah and that's you
can break your arm or or at least get
injured laughing no but yeah look at the
stay of it should have done this a while
ago yeah what you're doing it now before
anything happens it's the main thing
how's it going babe yeah good um I'm
just gonna put it back together
nice don't it we got off at about half
6:00 this morning the plan is to head to
Cadiz which is eight to four nautical
miles away we plan for it to take us
most of the day and hopefully we'll get
in there before it gets too dark we're
gonna stay in there overnight and then
head to Gibraltar early tomorrow morning
the wind is looking light but it's
supposed to you get a bit stronger the
further away from the coast we are so we
get out there and see what it's like
Wow
that just turned the boat so I guess
this boy here is sort a being back how
at the moment we've got about six knots
of wind so we put the like wind sail up
we're doing about four knots which isn't
ideal but hopefully we'll get a bit
stronger so the wind picked up quite
fair
we had gusting to about 28 knots we're
going downwind which we love we're doing
we've been averaging about seven eight
knots of speed which is pretty good for
us we've got the main and the jib out
we've reached the main twice just
because it got a bit strong and we
didn't feel that confident having an out
boat was kept turning into wind and so
we were overpowered so we briefed we're
now thinking we may just go straight to
Gibraltar
the problem with Gibraltar is the type
so when the tide is coming out it's
quite a massive current so it's
difficult to go into against the tide we
think if we can get to a certain point
so we've got four to two miles left if
we can get there by about midnight then
we're just going to keep going and get
to Gibraltar hopefully early in the
morning but another factor is the wind
quite strong still we don't really want
to be going round the point of Gibraltar
with sort of 20 knots of wind it can let
it's been said that it can double in the
Gibraltar Straits because it's like a
huge acceleration zone so if we've got
20 knots doubles to 40 it's
gonna be ideal we'll get there pretty
quick but yeah that'd be very fun so
we're still trying to make the decision
we're not sure we've gone past Cadiz now
so what if we do stop we're going to
pull in at a different marina but we'll
see
exciting thanks for watching and a
