that means windows days windows day yep
so what's going on laid this one out
getting the holes drilled for the
fasteners and it's you can see right
here I've outlined our interior trim so
the idea is to run the fasteners into
the interior trim so quite a bit of
calculations to make sure this happens
so we'll see how it goes
been 2 months without windows two months
couple days of rain not too bad though
I'm not complaining fun days yeah one
day to have decided to use all my pots
and pans all my old towels all my tarps
everything but this is a big summer for
us we're trying to get this all done for
the wrong season one last winter here
[Music]
[Music]
so it looks like Till's not a very happy
camper you can tell everybody what
happened I miscalculated and I
pre-drilled through the windows
and I missed it fine 3/8 of an inch on
each side
well we'll just have to get new windows
it sucks but mistakes happen
so here's what I did the outside cut out
of this window frame is 12 inches
but due to the curvature of this as it
planes straight through the inside is 11
inches so what I did is I took the trim
to calculate my holes and I blew it so
after that Fiasco of having that know
and be drilled incorrectly we were able
to get the new window in on the same day
so score
oh crap I put the film on the right side
okay now watch here's where it gets
tricky okay take one screw
any hole I do it on the end you know
what we're gonna find that hole and try
to elevate it and find the hole
and line it up
try to turn it like this a little bit
again the hard way okay ham again
elevate the bottom don't let it touch it
and watch your fingers as we go on the
bottom
yeah
what contains about 10 minutes then you
got that they'll start okay yeah
oh really lose the star
they'll get the top rows on
[Music]
okay quick side window we're gonna go
ahead and just fasten justanswer then we
can go ahead and trace out the body
so your new windows in what do you think
okay that's two down
well we have this massive bank to go
right here but but we're kind of honing
our skills and getting better and better
at this yes you are
[Music]
[Music]
okay you want to tell everyone what
happened oh come on it's not too bad so
it appears that no window is similar on
this boat so when we had these cut yes
they're a little different but we didn't
know how much a quarter-inch makes a
huge difference so some of the holes are
very close to the edge
which means our our weather stripping
won't quite work with this we'll see
we'll make it work so how many extra
holes did we drill
then I took a chunk out of the boat okay
this can't work I think okay hey baby
[Music]
[Laughter]
[Music]
always an airplane always an airplane um
plane sorry
can you explain what you're doing I'm
running a little piece of foam tape it's
three eight five five sixteen was it
close so all right little cell and I put
this down not to keep the water out but
when we put our sealant on it keeps the
sealant from squeezing out kind of traps
it's like a trough right yeah it works
really does it looks cool
it doesn't cause
I guess it went work as a feeling - I
mean this is waterproof
[Music]
okay so you do this do you line this and
then we do the other side on the trim
side so on this side and then we fill
this side with silicone right I think
goodness it's been two over two months
luckily we've had a hundred days of no
rain in Seattle we know that's come into
the air we have a big weather event
coming to us they're actually
forecasting quite a bit of rain on
Sunday so how much weight are we talking
I think that's all it's a cool isn't it
doesn't matter you touch oh they do
remember I thought you were having a
little break so then you can put black
silicone
just painted you don't have to listen to
it
I do you don't excuse your to listen
argue I tell argue I'm just right
this is exciting Emma we've been with
Outlander
normally this one just this one tonight
and then tomorrow there you go I got
live silicon
set it break down the ground first and
and just you can have anyone anytime
them did just the top edge first
remember try to line it up as it go
okay hand me one
[Music]
okay got all the windows in just in time
rains been hitting for about a week
solid got a little break in the rain so
I'm going to show you how these windows
turned out
real happy with them
let's take a look at this Bank here this
was a tough one a lot to think about we
had about 300 fasteners in this whole
project and the fasteners are exposed on
the exterior but on the interior no
fasters that starboard lumber trick
worked out perfect we were in the tinted
lenses to give us some privacy on the
interior and to keep the Sun out when we
start hitting warmer climates but
overall we're getting there
what do you think of the new windows
they're amazing you can see through that
I know it's crazy isn't it look at this
everything turned out just like we
thought you know what's weird it's like
when we look outside we can see like
boats go by now it's not just like the
wall just keeps going on to the scratchy
part that you can't see through that's
how it used to be okay so this projects
done now we got to go to the next
project
yep you give this a thumbs up or a
thumbs down
[Music]
