so we've been in melbourne
oh over a week now 10 days and to be
honest we're pretty happy to be leaving
that wasn't the best place uh that we
visited that's for sure
a lot of it because of our experience
here um
but also the people just weren't very
friendly covert has really really
affected
people's happiness and trust and
the whole vibe here is just not very
cool
we've been to plenty other places that
are just as
covert risky as as here but everyone
gets on with life and is happy and
friendly and here it's just not really
like that it's a
definite um oh there's the bullet the
white people stay away
put your mask up all that sort of stuff
so but what made it less fun was
when we checked in here i had to do a
rapid test
so that's a blood test that you get a
result back in a
hour or so and maurice came back fine
and mine came back reactive
[Music]
i hadn't really looked into it but after
that obviously i googled it all and
there's two things the rapid test tests
for is the
igg and the ig m
and my igm that's if you've got a
current
infection that came back fine
the igg which is if you've had a
infection in the past came back reactive
so that was straight away oh well the
white person's got the disease we're all
going to die
in a bit of panic and then i had to go
and do a swab test
or two swab tests one one day and this
side and the next day in the other side
the problem here in malmo area is that
they don't
have a laboratory a laboratory
laboratory to do swab tests so it had to
get sent to kupang that's
which is an air you know a flight away
so it took a week to get that
and in that time we stayed confined to
the boat which we were fine with because
we had work to do and
we could go still swimming off the boat
but anyway yes we spent a week here in
quarantine our third quarantine in
indonesia
yeah the test came back a few days ago
and it was negative like
obviously sort of negative because first
we did rapid tests
not that long ago we were both negative
if covert is as contagious as
as you know the few mongers of the world
would have one believe
and possibly is marie would have had it
too we
kiss and hug and live and sleep together
and uh if i had it she would have it
it's there's no other way really
and she was clear so and i wasn't
feeling sick i never had a temperature
and all that sort of stuff so yeah it
was
whatever but the whole town well a city
of 150
000 found out you know knew about
because we're the only white people here
so
everyone knew there was one positive
covert case with a white person so it
didn't make it very fun
the officials weren't very friendly and
they didn't really want us here and
and even like the for example you go in
a restaurant
you smile and say hello to the waitress
and they
didn't answer just not saying hello not
a smile just give you the menu
and it's everywhere almost like that
like there's some
nice people like we can't say everyone
was hard but
yeah they seems really everyone was
pretty hard
faced and look and not really happy
in life it's a funny town that's quite a
big city actually but it's just like a
village
that's grown into something and they
never made it a city
there's no central part there's no
you know there's a harbour but there's
no waterfront that they've used there's
no
main road there's no you don't know
there's no feeling of a city it's just
there's not even any supermarkets or big
shops
you know there's just like thousands of
little ones that all sell the same stuff
it's it's a weird place it's like
it's like a little village that just
grew into a 200 150 000 city
without knowing it and the roads and
everything else infrastructure didn't
catch up at all
we're sailing right now we just sailed
off the anchor
but there's there's feds and stuff
everywhere so we've got to keep a bit of
a check out
because the wind's a bit in and out
sometimes we're now we're doing four
knots and before we're doing two knots
and
anyway we're out of here we're heading
west towards sla bombajo komodo it'll be
a couple weeks before we get there we're
just going slowly
what this video is about it's been a bit
of a long intro sorry about that
this video is about our visit to
kalamutu now probably a lot of you have
seen the pictures from this place it's
three different colored lakes on the top
of a volcano
and uh we'd seen them we wanted to go
and see them for ourselves
we had to wait a while but it was worth
it and it was pretty freaking epic
wasn't it yeah yeah for me the
lakes were pretty cool but the fact that
we get to see monkeys right beside us
and baby monkeys with blue eyes that was
even more crazy
yeah because vernon is eight years old
when you see monkeys he's super excited
love monkeys i want to get one on the
boat but she doesn't really want one but
i'm
probably going to smuggle one aboard
anyway then she won't be able to get rid
of it
it was a day of two firsts for me i'd
never been that close to monkeys
and i'd never seen rice paddies live so
pretty hyped and the rice paddies with
the drone footage pretty epic anyway
cut to the movie here you go watch this
it's pretty cool
enjoy jolly good morning to you all
and it's very early it's hardly even
morning here it's barely five o'clock
and marie and i just over here looking
looking pretty sleepy still yeah we're
off on a bit of an adventure today we're
going up to kalamutu
[Music]
pretty cool eh yeah it's the first time
we all see clues of the
monkeys here they're super funny
[Music]
so
[Music]
super cute
[Music]
hard work walking now after living on
the boat for so long
yeah definitely more used to
the boat and the mountain now just six
months
your leg muscle's all gone the legs
it's the breezy breathing
[Music]
so we're up here at the top of kalamutu
it's a thousand
five hundred something or other and it's
the three colorful lakes
as you can see it's totally beautiful
the colors are stunning
look over there there's another lake
over there beautiful one
that's turquoise one down there you can
see oh you can't see much down that way
yeah and there's a bright red one over
here
and uh it's pretty foggy at the moment
it's only about five what is it maybe
nine o'clock in the morning
it's pretty windy and pretty foggy but
we're hoping with the wind
it'll blow over i've already had a
couple of patches where you could see
more
but um if it opens up a bit more i'll
get the drone up and try and get a few
shots for you
because what we've seen so far the
colors are pretty spectacular
but in the meantime we've just been
watching the monkeys they're pretty cool
i've never been that close to monkeys
before
so yeah pretty cool but uh hopefully the
the fog will roll on
what do you reckon
she don't know what reckon means
say in the comments what you think she
her english is a certain level that she
should know what reckon means
what do you think about the situation at
the top of kalamutu mountain
that's cool that's guilty
super different teammate you can say
climate
climate yeah yep say yes it's super
super beautiful to be up and have some
altitude and some
views and feeling the cold again
yeah the climate up here is crazy it
reminds me actually of new zealand this
this well kiwis would know pangas
there's uh like fern trees
the big green fern bushes furry sort of
logs and
yeah it's a lot of moss and a lot of
weird-looking
vegetation that you don't sort of
associate with well
we don't associate with coastal
indonesia so it's pretty cool to see
an amazing belle oh yeah crazy
bird life she didn't bring her uh sound
recorder so you won't have
really really good sound of the bird but
that's what happens when you get up at
four o'clock in the morning
and she is not
the optimal morning person i am a
morning person
yeah as long as it's not that far no
come on
i wake up at nine at eight at seven
what are you doing what are you doing
with my bag
an ocean okay
i dreamed that no one could save
a shelter a whole lot
a light that died with the night
you and i we got
our differences
yet i thought
[Music]
everything is grey inside this narrow
maze
[Music]
oh nothing we run our separate ways
do you ever think about me
or are you busy with someone else
and i we got our
[Music]
differences
[Music]
pain what's the plan
[Music]
everything is
everything has lost
so i hope you appreciate these videos
like it was really beautiful
landscape in kalimutu for the french
speakers
like the sixth episode of my podcast
ammon sun severe will be
out soon it's a kind of storytelling
about
uh our travel on the boat and also my
feeling of the
the new kind of life i can have on the
sable twist burn
my version
[Music]
